World Journalism Institute's (WJI) High School Camp offers Christian students a way to explore the world of journalism, digital storytelling, and communication from a biblical perspective. Students will develop and discover media and communication skills that will not only benefit their future careers but also their daily lives.
Over five action-packed days of learning and fun, students will dive into reporting, broadcasting, and public relations through hands-on audio, visual, and writing projects. Along the way, they'll explore how journlists, filmmakers, communicators, and everyday citizens shape public opinion and influence policy. Students will also be challenged to understand both how to create accurate media and how to consume media wisely in today's confusing but influencial media world. In a world crowded with fake news, students will discover how journalism and social media can be powerful tools for seeking truth and making a real difference.
This camp is held in partnership with Dordt University and WORLD and is led by Dordt's communication faculty who have years of industry experience in reporting, video storytelling and film, live streaming, and public relations. Students will get a taste of the college experience as they live in dorms on campus, eat in the dining hall, attend classes, and connect with peers. This camp welcomes high schoolers who have completed at least a year of high school, meaning they have finished grades 9, 10, 11, or 12.
**Please note that campers can check in the evening of May 31 and spend the night in their rooms.
